Jens Keukeleire third overall in 4 Jours de Dunkerque / Grand Prix des Hauts-de-France

The 4 Jours de Dunkerque concluded today with a final opportunity for the sprinters. Enzo Wouters took sixth place while Jens Keukeleire completed the top ten and secured his third place in the overall standings. The Lotto Soudal rider looks back to a nice week of racing in France.

💬 Jens: “Today we wanted to wait and see how the race would unfold in order to maybe still try something in the finale. But the plan to race hard and that way decreasing the forces of Jumbo-Visma did not fully succeed. Then we granted Enzo Wouters the chance to sprint. I look back to the six days of racing with mixed feelings. Especially during yesterday’s stage, I hoped to move up a bit in the general classification. I maybe made a mistake to sit too far back as we started the final climb to Cassel. A little gap opened up and the three riders were gone. If I had been on the wheel, I think I would have been able to follow and then I could maybe go for the stage win.”

“Racing against the strong Jumbo-Visma team was tough. Unfortunately, we only remained with five Lotto Soudal riders pretty soon in the race as Jelle Wallays and Brian van Goethem had to abandon, which made it very difficult. But as a team, I think we did very well. On Friday, we took the initiative ourselves and during the stage to Cassel, we chased the early break. Coming Wednesday, I will leave for a two-week altitude training camp in the Sierra Nevada with some other teammates before taking part in the Critérium du Dauphiné.”
