Being part of the breakaway that battled for the stage...

Lotto Soudal Cycling Team, le texte de sa publication du 31-05-2019 17:12:08 :
Being part of the breakaway that battled for the stage victory at the Tour of Norway, a strong Sander Armée sprinted to third place in Sandefjord today. Thanks to three bonification seconds at the intermediate sprint and his third place at the line, Armée now sits eighth overall, ten seconds behind current leader Boasson Hagen.

💬 Sander Armée: “At first, I joined the break to make the race hard but of course once you’re in it you want to win. I think that I was the strongest rider on the climbs but they were a little too far from the line to attack and stay away against the four guys chasing me down. I’m not the fastest sprinter so that made it difficult to win at the end. We knew the break stood a chance because of the undulating course, which makes it hard for the peloton to close the gap. And also with teams of only six riders, we knew it would be possible. I also took the three bonification seconds at the intermediate sprint because if I had been able to stay away, that could have made the difference to take the leader’s jersey or not.”

“Going into the final lap, we still had an advantage of 1’20”. I knew if I would do the final climb at full speed, we wouldn’t lose any of our advantage. We even gained some additional time there but the false flat downhill and the headwind was not to our advantage. I attacked twice and opened up a little gap but behind, there were four guys cooperating and I could not stay away. I could drop them on the climbs but it was impossible to hold that gap during the flatter parts. Tomorrow’s stage is not that hard, there are some climbs but quite far from the finish. So, it will be easier for the sprint teams to control the race. Sunday will be crucial for the overall victory with a tough climb in the final twenty kilometres. The strongest riders will be able to ride away there and we will certainly have a go with Tim or Bjorg.”
