Its #conference weekend! Shout out to my alma mater Cornell University at the #Heps (Ivy League Conference) tomorrow! I have great memories from this meet racing the classic 5-mile course at Van Cortlandt park in New York. It was a hilly course that I broke 25-min on only twice. My best was running 24:41 for 2nd place...it was one of the best races of my life: I took the lead going up “cemetery hill” around mile 4...coming down the hill still in the lead I could taste victory with only 600m to go! However Princeton’s Michael Maag (who ran a sub 8-min 3km that year) had a nasty kick...he flew past me as I struggled to find another gear. In the final 200m I totally locked up, flooded with lactic acid, but was able to hold off a charging Ben Sitler (also of Princeton). We got 2nd as a team behind Princeton as well...although we generally beat them in track during those years! Every point and every second counts in Cross Country. Best of luck to all those racing this weekend! #crosscountry
